Objection to planned centre
It has just come to my notice that there has been a proposal lodged with council for the building of an Aboriginal Medical Centre in Hillvue Road, just around the corner from Robert Street.

I have no objection of this building, but I do have a strong objection to the location. Traffic in Robert Street is at a maximum most of the time and this building would add to the congestion and make it dangerous.
Directly opposite this proposed site there is a safety park where little kids can go to learn to ride their bikes etc.
And further up from this park we have a kindergarten school with hundreds of little children. One the same side as the building a little further on there are food outlets. Taking all these things into consideration I would dare to say that the traffic would increase two or threefold thereby making it a dangerous area.
People living in Robert Street especially would have their home values decreased substantially and others in the surrounding area would suffer the same fate.
The area in question has been recreation land for the 54 years I have lived here and was often used by children kicking their football or playing cricket etc. It has obviously been rezoned to make this building proposal possible.

Juvenile Crime
Juvenile crime is a growing issue in Australia.
Teachers, police, magistrates and community members have mostly been doing their best to guide these kids most of whom have had a tough start in life.
Parenting is the key and in most cases this is lacking.
It has reached the point where if a juvenile is convicted of a crime the parents, parent or adult in "loco parentis" of the juvenile should be compelled to pay a pecuniary penalty even if only by instalments.
That person or persons would then be more likely to ensure their young charge stays out of trouble.

Trees for the CBD
I am absolutely shocked to see that desert ash trees are being planted in the Tamworth CBD, specially where their seeds can wash down into the Peel River when this species has been declared an invasive species in South Africa and is also considered a weed in many parts of Australia, as it out competes native plants particularly around and water sources such as rivers and streams. They are deciduous, produce a lot of seeds and offer nothing to our birds, insects and other wildlife. There are 1000s of better choices than this weed....PLEASE think again

More trees gone
And here we go again.
Council have removed the beautiful trees in Murray St opposite Woolworths and once again in a most underhand way with no explanation and not even local contractors used. Why?
If those trees were "dangerous" then every tree of any size in Tamworth would need removing .... or were they "diseased"... again?

New challenger for New England
The Sandy Creek Solar Farm recently approved by environment minister Tanya Plibersek will be located 25 kms southwest of Dunedoo in the central west of NSW.
At 840 MW, it will beat the New England solar farm east of Uralla (720 MW) as the biggest in the state.
What will Barnaby Joyce do?
Quietly celebrate that his electorate no longer embarrassingly leads on renewables, expand his efforts for a local nuclear reactor, or just go all out for a new coal mine?
Whatever Joyce does, it will be anti-renewables and not what Australia needs to reach net zero emissions by 2050.

What will be our legacy?
Australia is already known as a major exporter of coal and gas and our Federal Government is attempting to approve many more coal and gas mines. Our country is fast becoming a stand out contributor to human caused climate change.
Is this the reputation that the people of Australia want for their country?
