"September 1, 2023" read the simple caption under Ms Kerr's November 21 post confirming the pair had been engaged for longer than had been speculated.
Ms Mewis showed off the large oval-shaped diamond ring with a simple thin gold band in the photos taken at a Gilded Age Vanderbilt mansion on Rhode Island called The Breakers.
The couple were in America celebrating Ms Kerr's birthday during the time of the engagement, according to her Instagram page.
Engagement rumours began swirling in mid-September after the international love story captured the hearts of many following Ms Kerr's heroic run at the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup with her Matildas teammates.
Ms Kerr popped the question just over two weeks after the Matildas were knocked out of the tournament by the English team on August 16.
The couple met just over two years earlier during the Tokyo Olympics when the US and Australian teams went head to head.
The US team secured the win, scoring four goals to Australia's three.
But sparks flew when Ms Mewis sat down beside the Australian captain and hugged her after the match.
They launched their romance on social media three days later with a picture of the pair kissing.
