* Qantas chairman Richard Goyder and new CEO Vanessa Hudson fronted a parliamentary inquiry looking into why the government denied a Qatar Airways bid to run more flights into Australia
* Ms Hudson confirmed they'd asked the government to block the Qatar Airways bid to let the local market recover after the COVID-19 pandemic
* Qantas refused to publicly table its submission to the government but said it would show the committee if it was kept confidential
* Qatar Airways had applied to introduce an extra 28 flights per week into Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney
* The airline said it hadn't been told why its bid was rejected and argued the extra flights could add $3 billion of economic benefits to Australia
