Police have arrested a man after he was caught on film allegedly smashing cars with a metal pole on a busy road in Scarborough, Western Australia.

The bystander phone footage shows the 40-year-old man running across an intersection wielding the pole and using it to indiscriminately target oncoming vehicles.
The man stood in the West Coast Highway and Scarborough Beach Road intersection, raising his arms and weapon towards traffic.
Cars can be seen stopping and accelerating around the man attempting to avoid him during the Christmas Day attack.
The weapon isn't clearly identifiable from the footage but resembles a metal baseball bat.
