The Tamworth Swans women's team lost a low-scoring nailbiter of a match yesterday against the Inverell Saints women in the first round of the 2022 season.

The Saints, who were in second place when last year's competition was abandoned, continued their strong form in Tamworth.

Inverell's Katrina Doak was the only player from either team to kick two goals, as the Saints overcame a 14-point deficit at three quarter time, down 3.6.24 to 1.4.10, with four goals in the final period.
In the end, their five-point, 5.7.37 to 4.8.32 win was a thrilling start to the season for Inverell.
In the following men's game, the Swans got over the Saints by 19 points in a closely-fought game, 14.11.95 to 11.10.76.
Meanwhile, the Tamworth Kangaroos' senior teams enjoyed a pair of wins away in Narrabri on Saturday.
The women won another very close game against the Moree Suns, as just four points separated the two sides, 5.5.35 to 3.13.31.
The Kangaroos men then obliterated the combined Narrabri Eagles-Moree Suns team, 21.12.138 to 1.4.10.
