Tamworth Country Music Festival 2022: Wests Entertainment Group hosts 'Country Turns Pink' concert, raises more than $34,000 for Cancer Council

Wests Entertainment Group, Cancer Council and 88.9fm have celebrated the success of their 'Country Turns Pink' concert, which raised $34,920 to support women through breast and gynaecological cancers.

Cancer Council community programs coordinator Shaen Fraser said the money raised from the concert, which drew a crowd of more than 400 people, would be spent locally in the New England North West region.

"This will help our local transport for treatment service and our accommodation services here in Tamworth for regional patients to stay here free of charge," Ms Fraser said.

Hosted by Shelley Minson and Jon Wolfe, the night included performances from country music stars such as John Williamson, The Bushwhackers, Alan Fletcher and many more.

While the event has run for many years during the Tamworth Country Music Festival, 2022 marked the first time Cancer Council was the beneficiary of the concert.

West Entertainment Group deputy CEO James Cooper said the partnership with Cancer Council was one the club hoped to continue.

"[Cancer] is something that touches most families in one way or another," Mr Cooper said.

"The fact that now through our trade and our operation we can contribute to such a great cause, is something that's pretty special for us."

Plans are already underway for next year's 'Country Turns Pink' concert, with Cancer Council partnering with the entertainment group again in 2023.
