The Urban Street Tree Management Plan Advisory Group held its first meeting since the new council was elected, identifying a plan of action to create shade and improve streetscapes in the heart of Tamworth.
The group has selected Brisbane Street, Fitzroy Street and White Street as priority locations for the next round of tree planting.
It's follows the success of last year's greening strategy, which saw 600 trees planted during Spring alone, the majority of which are now thriving.
Planting for Autumn is currently underway with a further 750 new trees to be planted, including 300 by the Rotary Club of Tamworth First Light along Duri Road, Kent Street and at Electra Park.

TRC's development engineering team has proposed some changes to tree planting in subdivisions, requiring developers to make a contribution.
"Council will undertake the planting of new subdivisions once the occupation rate reaches 75 per cent or after two years, whichever comes first," manager sports and recreation Paul Kelly said in a report to council.
"The Advisory Group asked for one other change to these guidelines in relation to lots with large street frontages requiring a planting rate of one tree per 30 metres of frontage."
Councillors will make the final decision on the changes at Tuesday night's ordinary meeting.
