Just days out from the season's start, the Glen Innes Magpies have announced they will not be taking the field in the 2022 Group 19 rugby league season.

The Magpies made the announcement via Facebook on Thursday citing a a lack of players as the reason behind their withdrawal.
"Not the post we wanted to be writing a week out from the comp but due to the lack of numbers for players across all grades we have been forced to withdraw from the Group 19 Competition for 2022," they said on the post.

"We would like to thank the interested players for their time, the Glen Innes Services Club and our other sponsors for 2022.
"A shoutout to our small but mighty committee that tried incredibly hard to push any other result but this.
"We appreciate all involved but 2022 just won't be our year.
"Hope to see you in 2023 Magpies."
They are the third Group 19 club to pull the pin for season 2022 with the Guyra Super Spuds and Ashford Roosters unable to field teams.
That leaves the Narwan Eels, Walcha-Uralla, Armidale Rams, Inverell Hawks, Warialda Wombats, Tingha Tigers and Moree Boomerangs as the remaining clubs in the competition.
The season begins on Saturday in the split round one fixtures with Warialda hosting Armidale.
Monday will see Inverell and Tingha go head-to-head.
