The Wombats last took the field in 2019 with a last-start grand final finish against the Bundarra Bears in the second division grand final.
Rugby league in 2020 was hampered by the coronavirus pandemic and in 2021 the Wombats didn't participate in the competition.
But they are back this season and ready to roll in both the men's and league tag competitions with a clash this Saturday against the Armidale Rams.

"We have been training pretty hard, we are still chasing a few numbers but it is just good to have footy back on the park for Warialda," president Jake Kennedy said.
"Good vibes around both teams, the community is really behind us which is great."
Kennedy said they have welcomed a handful of new players to the men's team while the league tag side will be a totally new look.
"With the girls, we have probably got three girls that have played before," he said.
"We have got some new families in the club which is great."
The Wombats hit the playing field for the first time this year on April 1 with a trial against Tingha.
The Warialda side took a 50-30 win in the men's while Tingha won 30-nil in the league tag.
Kennedy said a massive crowd was on hand to welcome back the club.
"You could nearly call it a 'sell out trial match,'" he said.
"I haven't seen a football game in Warialda that big for a long time so it is really great to have everyone behind us.
"We thank Tingha for coming out and trialling with us on a Friday night, a couple of weeks ago now, but it was good to get a good hit out.
"We still have got a couple [of players] to come in but a lot of the boys had a run around, got a bit of game time back in their legs."
As for what he expects from the Rams this Saturday in Armidale, Kennedy said it is anyone's guess.
"What you hear, you can't believe, the old Group 19 rumours," he said.
"Until they turn up, we have got no idea."
