Libraries in Kootingal, Manilla, Nundle and Barraba will receive a facelift after securing $170,792 in funding.
Tamworth Regional Council (TRC) manager of cultural and community services Kay Delahunt said the money would help deliver better educational opportunities for residents.
"The smaller villages don't have as many specialised services and facilities so the library often becomes the hub where people come for a whole range of different things," Ms Delahunt said.

The funding will be spent on different things at the four libraries.
Kootingal will receive new shelving, furniture, technology and an external automatic borrow and returns locker, that will allow visitors to pick up and drop off books at any hour.
New shelving and computer desks will make an appearance in Barraba, while Manilla will get extra seating and there will be new furniture for meeting rooms in Nundle.
"It will certainly make it easier to run programs," Ms Delahunt said.
TRC mayor Russell Webb said the improved facilities would be beneficial for increasing the population and attractiveness of these smaller towns.
"This grant funding is an exciting opportunity for council to create new facilities and enhance those existing in some of our smaller communities," Cr Webb said.
"We know that creating welcoming spaces for our residents is important, linking back to council's Blueprint 100 vision for the Tamworth region."
Funding for the project was received from the state government's Public Library Infrastructure Grant program.
