After his Poppy Joe was diagnosed with Parkinson's, Nundle boy Alex Burr decided to part ways with his mane, to help those living with the neurodegenerative disorder.
While he was sad to chop off the mullet he'd been nurturing for almost a year, Alex said knowing that it would help his Pop and go towards a good cause was enough to make him smile.
"He's a really good pop, I couldn't ask for anyone better," Alex said.

With the help of his mum Teree, Alex put the call out for donations on social media to help raise money for Parkinson's NSW.
Despite setting an original goal of $700, the eleven-year-old has already raised over $1400 for the charity.
"I'm very grateful for how many people have donated, amongst a lot of bad people in the world there's a lot of great people out there," Alex said.
"There's even been a few people from other countries."
While she's proud of her kids everyday, Ms Burr said she was delighted when Alex came to her with the idea to help others.
"When you can teach your kids at a young age that doing stuff like this is really important, it helps them think about other things besides themselves," she said.
More than happy to see the mullet go, Ms Burr said the money Alex had raised would be vital in helping families just like theirs.
"It's just good to create the awareness," she said.
"It's not just about the person with the disease it's also about the carer and the family members, it affects everyone."
Alex will go under the scissors on January 9.
And as no stranger to generosity, Alex will also be donating his hair to the local TAFE, to use in hairdressing lessons for those in training.
