Jazz crooner Hester Fraser, of Goldheist, set to sing different chords amid Country Music Festival

Part of newly-formed jazz group House of Jazz Collective, she is set to play some different chords in Tamworth's Capitol Theatre, at the heart of the country music festival.

Singing as one-woman band Goldheist, Ms Fraser brought live music back to Tamworth in a pre-run of the 50^th country music festival, on Saturday.

Despite preparing for a huge festival, she still had time to serenade Tamworth Christmas shoppers in a free outdoor gig on Saturday morning.

"I've got my album launch, which will be on the Saturday [January] 22," she said.

The House of Jazz Collective has booked out the Capitol Theatre on Saturday January 15, the first weekend of the festival.

"We were wondering how we could sneak in a bit of jazz to the festival, so we booked the Capitol Theatre," she said.

"On the first Saturday, so Saturday the 15^th, we're singing at the Capitol Theatre. We're getting country music stars to join us on stage and sing beautiful jazz standards and it's going to be a fundraiser for the Westpac helicopter."

Tamworth council kicked off a series of highly anticipated micro-events in the CBD last Friday, celebrating the start of the festive season by switching on the Fitzroy Plaza Christmas tree.
