A man has been charged with numerous domestic violence-related offences following a siege situation near Inverell, on Tuesday evening.

About 7.30pm officers attached to New England Police District were called to Howard Road, Howell - about 31km east of Inverell - following reports a man had made a number of threatening phone calls to a woman known to him.
Officers attached to New England Police District, attended the home and established a perimeter.

With the assistance of Police Negotiators, a 38-year-old man surrendered to police and was taken into custody around 6am Wednesday.
He was taken to Inverell Police Station and charged with stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm, destroy or damage property and use carriage service to threaten to kill.
The man was refused bail to appear at Armidale Local Court on Wednesday.
