Chapple snared a training and driving double.
Shannon's Shadow, a four-year-old gelding, broke his maiden status with an all-the-way win from the two barrier over 1609m.
"He has come a long way this horse since we got him and I think he will go a little further yet," Chapple said.

"I thought if I got beat with this one, I would have been in trouble for the rest of the meeting but we got that off our back early."
The lightly raced gelding joined the Chapple stables back in October and from three race starts he had notched up two seconds at Tamworth before the win.
Shannon's Shadow then contested the Newcastle meeting on Monday afternoon, picking up his second career win with Chapple's brother Guy in the gig. The mile rate was 1min 57.2sec for 1609m.
It was Dean Chapple's 340 win as a trainer.
Shannon Shadow was the $1.50 favourite in Tamworth and paid $21 for the win in Newcastle.
After Asterism won the Mates 4 Harness Pace (1980m), Chapple said: "We threw the horse in the deep end and put him up in grade.
"We got the one barrier and I said to the owners, "If we finish in the first four, we would be over the moon."
Asterism recorded a handy 1.56.9 mile rate for the 1980m.
Chapple's schedule for the horse includes the Golden Guitar in January while "we are contemplating the Maitland Inter City Pace as well", he said
Asterism has had four race starts for the Chapple stables and has produced three wins and a second at Tamworth Paceway.

Rippin Good Feelin likes the month of November.
It had been 364 days since the four-year-old gelding had his first win, when he picked up his second career win, from 19 race starts, at Tamworth Paceway last week.
Jamie Donovan, who trains and drives Rippin Good Feelin, guided him to victory in The Pub-Gunnedah Road Pace.
After commencing from the four barrier, Donovan elected to sit in on the leader's back (I Am The Joker).
Rippin Good Feelin then proceeded to make a three-wide sprint up the back straight on the final occasion and race away for a 13.7m win.
The win was clocked at 1.59.3 for 1609m.
