Player, trainer, coach, photographer are some of the roles he's performed at the club.
During his speech in honour of Smith at Werris Creek's presentation night, club president Jason Leonard said life membership was "only granted in exceptional circumstances where an individual exhibits loyalty and service beyond any reprehension to the club."
Smith fits that bill. The one club man played 27 seasons for the club, the first in 1988 in the under 16s, before he moved straight into helping out with the ladies team.
First as a trainer and then as coach which he'll do again in 2022.
As Leonard started to highlight some of these facts on Saturday, Smith started to think: "They might be talking about me."
"With the history of the club - 110 years the club's been about so it's a big history for a small town like Werris Creek - it's humbling, I guess," Smith said.
He added: "Knowing some of the names that have life memberships and that any club or organisation don't give them out lightly - it's definitely an honour."
Names like Ron Dellar and Darby Sherlock spring to Smith's mind and they were two of the first people the premiership player had an association with at the club.
Dellar and Sherlock were involved in the junior teams Smith played in after he was first introduced to the game by his dad Stephen.

Smith would accompany his father to football matches and was "brought up around dressing sheds".
"We only lived a couple doors up from David Taylor Oval and it was only natural to cross that bridge and get involved with footy and get the opportunity to play with a lot of family and mates," Smith said.
"From my young days having Ronny Dellar and Darby Sherlock coaching in the juniors and having those people still involved in the club for that period - I've always been accepted and felt at home."
Smith expects to be at the club for some time along with wife Anna and son Steven who are also Magpies.
