Police investigators with Strike Force Rosann have on Tuesday (November 16) focused on three specific locations in Kendall on the NSW Mid North Coast.
Officers returned to the property where William's foster grandmother lived and where he was last seen playing seven years ago.
The main search area of focus is the garden, with officers digging underneath the balcony of the home on Benaroon Drive.
Specialist forensics teams have been brought into the mix along with cadaver dogs.
There are unsubstantiated theories part of the investigation is looking at whether William may have fallen from the balcony.
Police have also been assisted by the NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) in cutting down trees and removing foliage in bushland at the corner of Cobb and Co Road, just off Batar Creek Road.
Chainsaws and earth moving equipment are also being used to clear the search area, including large trees.
The series of "high intensity" searches comes after the revelation there is new evidence in the investigation.
NSW Police Commissioner Mick Fuller said on national radio with 2GB that he believes the investigation 'will be solved' and confirmed there is 'one person in particular (they) are looking at'.
It wasn't something that happened in Kendall, it happened to Kendall.
- Jenelle Nosworthy
Kendall resident and owner of Miss Nellie's Café Jenelle Nosworthy said she only found out about the renewed search efforts on Monday night.
"I was here at work all day on Monday and only saw it on the news when I got home," she said.
"This time does feel a bit different. Not many locals have spoken about the search when they have come in to the cafe."
Ms Nosworthy said after seven years of not knowing, there is hope that William's case will be solved.
"It wasn't something that happened in Kendall, it happened to Kendall. Even if the resolution is a sad one, I hope that there is closure for everyone," she said.
"We're all hoping it will be solved."
William Tyrrell was just three-years-old when he went missing from his foster grandmother's yard in Benaroon Drive, Kendall on September 12, 2014.

The little boy wearing a Spiderman suit was playing with his sister, growling like a tiger when in an instant, he was gone. He has not been seen since, nor has there been any definitive evidence of what might have happened.
In that time investigators working in Strike Force Rosann have looked at thousands of pieces of evidence and conducted interviews with hundreds of person of interest.
They have been working under the premise that William's disappearance was as a result of human intervention. A $1 million reward was offered for information that lead to William being found.
That narrative changed this week when Detective Chief Superintendent Darren Bennett said in a media conference on November 15 that Strike Force Rosann were "looking for the remains of William Tyrrell".
It has been the first time it has been assumed by police investigators that the child is dead.
"It's highly likely that if we found something it would be a body," Det Ch Supt Bennett said.
"We are looking for the remains of William Tyrrell, there's no doubt about that."
Commissioner Fuller has confirmed there is one suspect police are looking into.
"It is my understanding from the investigators there is certainly one person in particular we are looking at," he said.
Commissioner Fuller also confirmed that NSW Police have sought an apprehended violence order (AVO) against William Tyrrell's foster parents, allegedly in relation to a child linked to William.
They are expected to face court next week.
A coronial inquest commenced into William's disappearance in March 2019 and remains ongoing. It is being overseen by Deputy State Coroner Harriet Grahame.
The coronial inquest findings were to be handed down by Deputy State Coroner Grahame in June 2021. A new date has not been determined.
The renewed search at three key locations off Benaroon Drive is expected to continue over the coming weeks.
