The former Blue Boars junior is the new Executive General Manager of Sydney University.
Farrer said he is excited for the opportunity to work alongside the "dynamic and diverse" team of coaches, team managers, sponsors, supporters, local community groups and University of Sydney stakeholders.
It will see the continuation of an almost decade long, and prosperous, association with the Sydney club rugby powerhouse first as a player and then in a coaching capacity.

He spent three seasons wearing the gold and blue, tasting Shute Shield success in 2006 and 2007.
After a knee injury forced him to hang up the boots, Farrer made a successful transition to the coaching ranks, leading Uni to three consecutive 1sts colts premierships and colts club championships as Director of Colts.
That then led to the appointment as Director of Rugby.
He then followed opportunities overseas, coaching the Lisbon-based CDUL in the Portuguese Premiership.
On returning to Australia he linked up with the Australian women's 7s side, working in the dual roles of team manager and assistant coach through 2019 and 2020.
Through all of that Farrer has retained strong ties to the Blue Boars, regularly holding coaching clinics. In recent times he has spent more time back in the region, and particularly this season was heavily involved with the club.
"One of the very few good things to come out of COVID has been Jack Farrer returning home and immersing himself into our club," the Blue Boars wrote in a post wishing him all the best for the new job.
"To say he's left a legacy behind is an understatement."
"Thanks for all you've done Jack. You have put in place a new level of passion and focus at our club, and every single player has grown from your involvement."
As well as his coaching credentials, Farrer also holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree, and boasts three years' experience as an accountant with KPMG.
SUFC president David Lyons said the club is extremely pleased he accepted the role.
"The club prides itself on developing our own and to see Jack return to SUFC with additional experience in the game and a broader skillset, I believe will be a real asset to the club," Lyons said.
"Importantly, Jack has a deep connection and passion for the club and is highly respected by many of SUFC's key stakeholders."
Farrer officially starts in the role on Monday and will work closely with the marketing and events manager, and the director or rugby, as well as the fulltime coaching staff to oversee all areas of the club.
