Councillor Mark Rodda 'keen' to enhance Tamworth Regional Youth Centre after public meeting

Elder, Don Craigie, said he was hoping for a clear commitment from Council for greater coordination and services for the centre.

"We need some sort of game plan that's feasible and culturally appropriate," he said.

Former youth councillor, Marc Sutherland, said he hoped the meeting would spark action from the council, who he blamed for the lack of coordination and the facilities being underused.

"We have the support of the builders to build, it's just a resources issue," he said.

"We need more programs. There has to be someone coordinating it."

Both Mr Craigie and Mr Sutherland hoped the meeting would put enhancing both the services and the facility itself at the top of the agenda for council moving forward.

Councillor Mark Rodda, who is standing for re-election in December, said he had gone to the meeting as a "friendly ear" and was "keen to ensure" that the Youth Centre was enhanced to meet its full potential.

"I'm here for a bit of a fact finding mission, to find out what we can do to enhance this facility and how we can move forward," he said.

Cr Rodda said he was willing to support whatever was needed to provide better services and facilities for the local community.
