MORE than 130 golfers turned out for Serendipity's pink golf day on Saturday, which helped to raise money and awareness for breast cancer.

Between donations, tickets and raffles more than $1600 was raised, although president Susan Goodwin said numbers were a good indication that people are conscious of breast cancer.
"The main aim of the day was the raise awareness because October is breast health awareness month," she said.

"To get people talking about having their mammograms and going back to the doctor and just to have a bit of discussion."
She said just like all the other money raised by Serendipity, it would stay local and go towards helping those going through cancer treatment; buying items for the treatment and care units at several places around Tamworth, including Inala house at the hospital.
She said even though the topic couldn't be more serious, there was still an opportunity for the members to have a bit of fun, which they did by playing some pretty relaxed golf and enjoying the warm conditions.
