Racing: Nicholas Dixon-trained Depth That Varies wins Coonabarabran Bakery Showcase Sprint

The red-hot Classy Rebel led the race from the jump and looked to have pulled away but jockey Brooke Stower sliced her way through the field to pull away over the last 100 metres to take the win.

After the race, Dixon told Sky Thoroughbred Central he had a good feeling about his chances.

"I thought I had him pretty good today," he said.

"So I'm very happy with that."

Even though he got the win on Sunday, Dixon knows there is still a few things to work on.

"He always gives 110 percent," he said.

"He does a lot of things wrong but he always tries when he races.

"So you can't be more happy with him."

Dixon believes the strong connection with Stower definitely made him confident coming into the meet.

"I was a little bit actually," he said.

"Brooke [Stower] rides all his work too so I thought if anyone was going to know the horse it would be her."

It was a good meeting for the region's trainers with Quirindi trainer Geoff O'Brien taking out the first race - the Imperial Hotel Maiden Showcase Plate (900m) with Diamonds Galore.

Diamonds Galore sat well inside the pack heading into the straight before jockey Stower made a move up the inside to blow past the rest of the field to win by just over a length.

Tamworth trainer Craig Martin then won the Max Hawkins Memorial, Marc Hawkins Electrical & Tim Evans Maiden Showcase Handicap (1200m) with Aarkus.

Ridden by Grant Buckley for the first leg of his double, Aarkus looked way too good for the field pulling away from the pack with 200m left for a comfortable win.

Stower then made it three winners for the day when she piloted Gavin Groth's Danspur to victory in the Regional Australia Bank & Burmac Class 3 Showcase Handicap (1600m) to round out the meeting.

The $2.60 favourite, Stower gave the Gunnedah-trained eight-year old a front-running run and he held off the challengers in the straight for a sixth career win and third this preparation.
