"It's a squad full of exciting players which can produce some quality rugby for the fans to enjoy."
Halifax head coach Simon Grix said it was a "real coup" for the Panthers to secure Walmsley's signature.
"Lachlan has had a great year, backing himself to get over here with the ambition to play Super League," Grix said.
"He has been a standout performer this year, scoring tries out of nothing, showing an X-factor with some freakish finishes.
"I look forward to aiding in his development and watching the competition for places bring out the best in him."
Born in Merriwa, the exciting winger moved to England in 2020 in an effort to make the Scotland national side for the now delayed 2021 World Cup.
After a breakout season for Whitehaven in 2021 that included winning the Betfred Championship's 'Entertainer of the Year' award, Walmsley has earned selection in Scotland's national rugby league squad.
Eligible to play for Scotland through family heritage, Walmsley is one of six players in the squad who could make their international debut when the team lines up against Jamaica on Sunday, October 24.
