Four-day Renewable Manilla festival rescheduled to April 7 to 10, 2022

Renewable Manilla was set to begin today and run until Sunday, but will now be held from April 7 to 10, 2022.

Renewable Manilla's Emma Stilts said the decision was about the certainty of providing a safe place for everyone to come together.

"We want to be a welcoming community to everyone and we just weren't sure how that looked when we made the decision to postpone a few months back," she said.

"The new dates are the last week of the school term, but if we had proceeded this year schools wouldn't have been able to attend due to limitations on excursions due to COVID health rules."

The four-day celebration will include creative and science workshops for local school children and the general public, food, music, markets and more.

Organised by Manilla Community Renewable Energy Inc, it will begin on Thursday, April 7 with school groups invited to participate in hands-on creative and STEM workshops, which will continue into Friday.

"Saturday will be the big festival day with the 100 Mile Dinner, live music and more workshops and then on Sunday we will have our market day," Ms Stilts said.

The committee is hoping to add more events to the schedule as momentum builds.

"We're having a face-to-face meeting in December and we're inviting local community groups to come along and see how they might be able to become engaged," Ms Stilts added.
