Tamworth COVID-19 cases: West Tamworth Leagues Club named an exposure site on October 9 and 10 between certain times

The COVID-19 positive person was at the club on October 9 and 10 from 10:51pm for about two hours on both days.

Anyone who was at the venue at the above times must get tested and isolate until they receive a negative result.

Management received the information on Tuesday, nine days after the patron was last in the venue.

In the interim, staff have been busy deep cleaning and sanitising the venue before opening, as has been the practice since the development of COVID-19, a statement said.

"Wests Entertainment Group is committed to keeping our venues COVIDSafe," it said.

"We have many measures in place to protect our members, guests and team members including cashless and contactless payment options, sanitisation stations, sneeze protection screens positioned in key customer service points, venue capacity limits, strict entry requirements including proof of double vaccination and refusing entry to visitors from Greater Sydney and Victoria.

"The relevant staff will be required to get tested, self-isolate and provide a negative result before returning to work. We urge any patrons that were at Wests during the above times to get tested also."

The daily deep cleans involve sterilising all touch points and surfaces in the club, including windows, tables, counters, ATMs and EFTPOS devices, TAB and Keno screens and gaming machines.

According to the Wests Entertainment Group, all floors have been vacuumed and mopped, amenities sterilised and hand sanitiser stations refilled.

TWO new cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in Tamworth, which brings the city's total to 81 in the last month.

One is from Daruka and one is from West Tamworth.

Public health physician Dr David Durrheim said it is good to see lower case numbers in the area.

"It's quite clear that the folks of New England have taken the outbreak in the local area very seriously and we've seen a massive surge in vaccination coverage, particularly the first dose in recent weeks which is incredibly encouraging," he said.

"We do see a few regions lagging behind though, Armidale is obviously lagging behind Tamworth and it's time folks in Armidale catch up make sure you are protected as well.

"We have also seen older people in Tenterfield are lagging behind too and so it's very important that we get really uniform coverage, we really want everyone to be protected against COVID as the state opens up."

As of Sunday, more than 95 per cent of the eligible population in Tamworth have had one dose of a vaccine while more than 75.3 per cent have had their second dose.

No new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Gunnedah where at least 76 per cent of residents are double-dosed.

Testing has increased at Uralla with a pop-up drive through testing clinic at the Driver Reviver on Bridge Street on Tuesdays and Thursdays from October 19 to November 4 from 1pm to 3pm. To book call 0427 923 080.

Walk-in Pfizer vaccination appointments are available at Tamworth hospital on Dean Street for those aged 12 and older on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9am to 12pm and 1:30pm to 3:30pm.

The clinic is open on Saturdays from 9am to 1pm.

Children aged 15 and younger will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian aged 18 and older.

A walk-in Pfizer vaccine hub for anyone aged 12 years and over is also running at the sports dome today, tomorrow at Wests and the following day at the Youthie.

Walk-in Astra Zeneca appointments are available at Tamworth hospital for those aged 18 and older on Wednesdays from 9am to 12pm and 1:30pm to 3:30pm.

Across the state 589 people with COVID-19 have been admitted to hospital, 128 of those are in intensive care and 69 require ventilation.

Four people died, including three men and one woman and the state's chief health officer Dr Kerry Chant warned the public to get vaccinated as soon as possible.

"The age ranges of people in ICU highlight that COVID can be a severe illness for all," she said.
