The gongs include the Tamworth Regional Council sportsperson of the year; the junior and senor sportspeople of the year; the junior and senior teams of the year; and coach of the year.
The gongs also include the Ken McKenzie Award for Services to Sport.
Nominations are also being accepted for the Tamworth Regional Sporting Hall of Fame.
Nominations can be made for individual sports stars or teams for the period January 1 to October 9.
They can also be made for administrators.
The awards night will provide a positive experience in a time when COVID has derailed so many competitions.
Tamworth's sporting landscape was blighted when the city went into lockdown this year.
And while the lockdown was lifted, community sports remains grounded until the state achieves a double-dose vaccination rate of 80 per cent.
Blake Mammarella, Tamworth Regional Council's sport and recreation development officer, said 2021 had been "really tough" for sporting bodies in Tamworth.
However, he believes that "we'll still get a large number of nominations".
The other gongs include the Sport Development Award. Nominations close on October 20.
