The Gwydir Highway between Glen Innes and Inverell reopened on Thursday afternoon after a serious car crash about 3am that morning.
New England Police and the Crash Investigation Unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Live Traffic NSW shows there are no more delays in that area.

A PREGNANT woman and a man have been taken to hospital after an early morning car crash on a highway north of Tamworth.
Police and emergency services were called to the scene of a single-vehicle crash on the Gwydir Highway, 20km east of Glen Innes, about 3am on Thursday.
A 25-year-old woman who was a front passenger in the car and 34 weeks pregnant was injured, according to police. The 25-year-old man behind the wheel at the time was also hurt.
Police said both the man and woman were treated at the scene by paramedics before they were taken to Armidale hospital for further care.
Another male who was a backseat passenger in the car was not injured in the crash, according to local police.

New England Police District officers have established a crime scene and the specialist team from the Crash Investigation Unit is assisting investigations into the circumstances of the crash.
The Gwydir Highway was closed in both directions in the early hours and remained closed later on Thursday morning, as investigations continue and the crash site is cleared.
Traffic diversions are in place for motorists who cannot avoid the area.
Eastbound traffic should use Tingha Road, Bundarra Road, Guyra Road, and the New England Highway to get to Glen Innes.
Westbound travellers should use the New England Highway, Guyra Road, Bundarra Road and Tingha Road to get to Inverell.
