As such, the Gunnedah trainer will go into Saturday's Manilla Cup (1600m) at Gunnedah feeling confident about the eight-year-old's chances in the $15,000 feature.

After pointing out that four of Danspur's five wins have come at Riverside Racecourse, including over 1600m on October 28, Groth said: "No disrespect to the other runners, it's not a really strong one [Manilla Cup field]."
He added: "It's probably a race that suits him."
The Manilla Cup field includes the Melissa Dennett-trained Ballast (Jackson Searle), who won the Barraba Cup last Saturday, and the Michael Craig-trained, Rachael Murray-ridden race favourite Time To Dazzle, who was paying $2 for the win (TAB tote).

To be ridden by Billy Cray, Danspur has drawn the six barrier in the eight-horse race and will carry 55kg.
"He's in lesser company, I might add," Groth said of Danspur's campaign.
"But, still, they've gotta carry a weight and he's run good times when he's won. So, they've still gotta win. He's going really well."
In his last start, Danspur finished fifth over 1600m at Tamworth on September 13. He has had 43 starts, for more than $70,000 in prize money.
