Around 30 workers from Whitehaven's Narrabri Mine are isolating after possible COVID exposure

The personnel have all been tested, are awaiting their results and are subject to the company's on site coronavirus protocols.

The company stated one worker had visited a possible COVID-19 exposure site, and as a result around 30 of their workplace contacts have also been required to follow the safety orders.

"A worker attended site following a possible COVID exposure," a Whitehaven spokesperson said.

"In consultation with NSW Health we have arranged for testing of approximately 30 personnel who are now in isolation as a precaution pending their results.

"All personnel are required to follow NSW Health advice and we will continue to work closely with NSW Health to ensure all appropriate measures are fully implemented."

The affected part of the mine has been temporarily closed, however other operations are continuing as normal.

"Relevant areas on site have been deep cleaned and work outside of this area continues as normal," the spokesperson said.

"All of our on-site COVID safe protocols were in place including temperature testing, social distancing, separating crews and mask wearing."

A further update on the situation is expected on Wednesday afternoon.
