In the gelding's first race for Jane Clement, Red Beryl took out the Shay Brennan Constructions Class 2 Handicap (1200m) at the Tamworth Jockey Club on Monday.
The Bendemeer-based trainer was understandably thrilled by the result of the $3000 purchase.
"It was a really good start. I've only had him about a month or six weeks and he had bad feet but thanks to my husband, it's fixed up," Clement told Sky Thoroughbred Central after the race.

Red Beryl was assisted by a rails run by jockey Mikayla Weir.
The jockey took the shortest way home around the bend, hugging the rail down the straight to beat the Sue Grills-trained Pass The Card - who had led for the majority of the race - and Terry Vidler's Staremm by about a length.
"He travelled so well during the run and they went quite quick and I was able to sneak a couple of runs up the fence," Weir told Sky Thoroughbred Central.

The win was Red Beryl's second for his career and came after placing seventh and eighth, beaten collectively by 13 lengths, in his last two starts.
Weir thought a change scenery may have helped the four-year-old turn his form around.
"They [the Clements] train on their own property so it's a whole different environment and they seem to thrive off it," she said.
