COVID-19 vaccinations: RFDS to blitz North West region in month of flying Pfizer clinics

The RFDS is set to return to Wee Waa's Aboriginal Lands Council on Sunday September 12.

The second-dose clinic, which will be open from 10.30am to 4pm, is the first of an expanded flying vaccination program in the region.

The RFS will travel to Gunnedah at the showground from Monday September 13 to September 15, with the clinic open from 9.30am to 4pm.

Then it will head to Carinda on Wednesday, Mullaley Hall on Thursday, Curlewis Hall on Friday and the Moree Showground from Tuesday 21 September to Thursday 23 September.

The service will finish out the month with a clinic at the North Star Sporting Club on Friday 24 September, Warialda Showground on Saturday 25 September and Bingara Showground on Sunday 26 September.

All services are walk-in Pfizer clinics.

MP for Parkes Mark Coulton has worked with the RFDS to help bring vaccination clinics to a number of the towns in his electorate.

He said the clinics will enable more people to access the Pfizer vaccine.

"I'm thrilled that the RFDS has been able to provide this opportunity for so many communities in the Parkes electorate, following on from the successful clinic in Narrabri and Wee Waa last weekend," he said.

"I encourage all eligible people to take advantage of these clinics, keeping in mind that this is an opportunity for those who need to have the Pfizer vaccine, specifically people aged under 60.

"Don't forget your GP and pharmacist are still providing vaccines, with supply and appointments increasing by the week.

"I urge people to take the first opportunity you can get to receive a vaccine. The best vaccination is the one you can get today.

"With COVID-19 now in the regions, it's more important than ever to get vaccinated to protect ourselves, our loved ones and our communities."

Bookings are not required, but residents should bring a mask and bring their Medicare card, a hat and sunscreen.

The RFDS will return to provide second doses.
