That's the philosophy behind a community letter-drop campaign by Glen Innes serial volunteer and View Club member Mary Hollingworth.
Her "lockdown letters" are designed to reach out to thousands of locals - at a time when they can't do that physically.
"While there are so many things, we cannot change we can perhaps bring some happiness to your day with a letter of care and concern," the letters read.

Mrs Hollingworth has printed and distributed over 1000 of the letters physically. They're available at local pharmacies, and have been dropped in scores of letterboxes in Glen Innes and Guyra.
She's also emailed the Prime Minister, the Premier, local MP Adam Marshall, Barnaby Joyce and countless local businesses and community groups.
"It was a really simple thing to do, it was just one page," she said.
"Some people aren't even able to see their grandchildren. Glen Innes has an older demographic with a lot of people living on their own. There's such an enormous need for people to be cared for and to feel cared for. That's how it came about. I'll keep delivering them in mailboxes and keep sending them off. It's a simple idea, but something that can be done so easily."
