Tamworth-owned delivery service Zoom expands operations during regional lockdown

The locally-owned service has pivoted the way it operates to now bring people items such as their groceries and bottle shop purchases, as well as the regular takeaway food orders.

Owner Ryan Blair said the changes have been well received and business has stayed steady despite many of their suppliers temporarily closing.

"How we're doing things is different, we've got a lot of our restaurants closed, but the ones that have remained open are busier during peak periods of time," he said.

"With the lockdown happening we've teamed up with a friendly grocer at Summers Westdale Supermarket so we can do grocery orders with a one hour turnaround through them.

"And also bottle shop deliveries through the bottle-O out there."

While business isn't exactly up, Mr Blair did note there had been a slight increase in the amount of customers using the service of late.

On top of that, the customers they already had have come to their aid to ensure the delivery service doesn't suffer during what has been a tough time for many industries.

"We've got a slight increase in new customers but we've always had a very loyal following," he said.

As part of its local focus, Mr Blair said he would be looking to expand the service to the outer reaches of the region, with Kootingal the next area on the list.
