Member for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall said the Voluntary Assisted Dying Bill provides a legislative framework to allow a person to end their life in a humane way, with medical assistance.
Only adults diagnosed with a terminal illness which will kill them within six months, or doomed to die of a neurodegenerative disorder within a year, would be captured under the bill. They also must experience suffering from the illness that can't be relieved.
NSW Parliament is expected to debate the bill, which has been sponsored by Independent MP Alex Greenwich, whenever it next sits.

On Tuesday, Mr Marshall launched an online poll and mail-out survey to his community.
"Every patient who is considering exercising this right would undergo an independent assessment by two experienced doctors, to determine if the patient is acting voluntarily and without any form of pressure and duress," he said.
"The bill includes protections for patients, to prevent vulnerable persons being pressured into seeking voluntary assisted dying and for medical practitioners, to permit conscientious objectors on any grounds."
He urged people passionate about the issue to read the entire 86-page bill, which is available at his survey site.
"People will have different perspectives on this bill and I want to hear from the entire community to ensure I can best represent those views on the floor of Parliament in the debate and ultimately when it comes time to cast my vote," he said.
"Any comments, questions and concerns are most welcome and will be treated by and my staff in the strictest confidence."
In 2019 Adam Marshall voted to sweep away the last formal legal prohibitions on abortion in NSW.
Tamworth MP Kevin Anderson has also committed to conduct consultation over his vote on the bill, which will be a conscience vote for Nationals MPs.
