Barraba ice supply: Prosecutors confirm charges against Glenn Mervyn Hanrahan in Tamworth court | Strike Force Kunderbung

The charges against Glenn Mervyn Hanrahan were confirmed in Tamworth Local Court when he appeared via video from custody.

Legal Aid solicitor Wendy McAuliffe told the court the state prosecuting authority, the DPP, was ready to confirm which charges against the accused would be pursued.

One allegation of supplying a prohibited drug in a large commercial quantity has been certified; as well as one charge of knowingly dealing with the proceeds of crime.

Two of the charges levelled against Hanrahan were dropped.

DPP prosecutor Max Dixon told the court there were two related offences listed on the charge certificate; as well as a slew of other allegations listed as alternative charges.

The court heard Hanrahan had recently made an application for Legal Aid, but the case had not been assigned to a solicitor at the time.

Magistrate Julie Soars asked when lawyers would be able to meet to discuss issues in the matter.

"On the assumption Mr Hanrahan can get some new legal representation, what would be the case conference date?" she asked.

Ms McAuliffe told the court that would depend and a date would need to be advised at a later time.

Ms Soars listed the matter for next week to confirm legal representation for the accused.

"We'll make further progress on that date," Ms Soars said to Hanrahan.

"Thank you, your honour," he replied.

The accused remains behind bars and no application was made for his release. Ms Soars formally refused him bail.

Hanrahan was arrested by a secret squad of Oxley police late last year and is accused of being involved in an alleged drug supply ring operating in Tamworth, Manilla and Barraba.

Strike Force Kunderbung officers allege that drugs, in particular ice, were being moved up to the region from the Central Coast.

Police allege they uncovered $77,500 cash in a Fitzroy Street home in Barraba during a raid, where Hanrahan was then arrested.

Other raids and arrests were made in relation to the alleged drug supply ring busted by the strike force, and Hanrahan's co-accused remain before the court.

The case was adjourned.
