MP Adam Marshall's COVID-19 isolation extended for further five days after he was diagnosed with the new Delta variant

The NSW Agriculture Minister contracted the more infectious Delta variant of COVID-19 at a Nationals dinner in Sydney almost two weeks ago.

On day 13 in isolation, Mr Marshall revealed he had some "good news and some bad news" in a video posted to Facebook.

"The good news is my symptoms have completely disappeared," he said.

"I not only feel great, I feel back to normal 100 per cent before getting COVID and it's been that way for the last couple of days now which has been terrific.

"The not so good news is I had a call from NSW Health this morning and due to contracting the new Delta strain, I will be required to stay in COVID isolation for more than the 14 days."

Mr Marshall was due to be released from isolation today at midnight, but he will now be kept in hotel isolation in Sydney until Friday, July 9.

It means he will have spent 19 days in isolation, with the further five days.

The Leader has contacted NSW Health for comment.

Mr Marshall said he would love to have gotten out earlier but he's "survived this long" and is sure he can survive another five days.

"I'm sorry I can't be with you all for another week, I'm really missing everyone now but it's just what has to be done," he said.

"I hope everyone is going okay, stay safe, stick together and keep obeying the rules and hopefully I'll see you in a few days' time."
