Capitol Theatre events Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow, dance event by the Studio postponed over COVID-19 restrictions

The Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow, scheduled for Thursday, and two weekend performances of a Whole New World by the Studio, have been put off to August.

Tamworth Regional Council Manager of Entertainment Venues Peter Ross said ticket holders for the events would be contacted in coming days with confirmation of new dates for the events.

"There was no alternative for us given the changes to the public health orders announced on Saturday afternoon by the NSW Premier and NSW Health," he said.

The Studio was forced to cancel a Saturday performance of a Whole New World just hours before the 6pm curtain raise. A second performance slated for Sunday at 11am has also been postponed to August 14 and 15.

The Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow, scheduled for Thursday July 1, has also been postponed. Tamworth council staff are looking to reschedule the event for a date within the next two months.

Most of the performers for the event have been in Greater Sydney in recent weeks, forcing the decision.

Tamworth council is now reviewing all planned events and activities at its venues and community facilities across the region to ensure all measures set down in the current public health orders are in place.
