Now he is two-from-two after his classy sprinter Murphey made it back-to-back Cups with a three-quarter length win in the $6,800 feature on Saturday.
The three-year-old, whoSyphers also owns, had gone into the final as the favourite after clocking the fastest time in the heats.
And while he wasn't able to get under the 26 seconds again (he won in 26.23secs), Syphers was happy with the run.

"He found his way," he said.
"He wasn't 100 per cent. He went into the heat with an injury and he went into the final with an injury of course because I couldn't fix it, but we got away with it."
He added that he has "got a lot more up his sleeve than that".
Saturday's win was Murphey's 20th from 40 starts and was possibly one of his last runs in the region.
"We've got a little bit of a future left with him," Syphers said.
"He's rising (going on) four. Once he hits that four we're going to have a shot at the big smoke (Sydney) with him."
The target is a masters race to be run on the same night as the Million Dollar Chase.
In the mean-time Syphers will "give him a let up for a bit" and then "see what happens from there".
The Arthur Barrass-trained Gulgong Flyer was second, the two finishing well clear of the rest of the field with third-placed Western Hero (Graham Pickering) another seven-and-a-half lengths back.
The final was delayed almost 50 minutes after an electrical malfunction with the lure, which pushed the previous race back.
It was one of several finals contested.
Hally Mulwee (Ranald Dawes) won the Robert Munn Bookmaker 1-5 Wins Appreciation, Hey Buddy (John Lawson) the Peel Valley Traffic Control Maiden from kennel-mate Hit It Benny, Fernando's Gal (Patrick Parrelli) the John Jordan Memorial and Sweet Cawbourne (Nevyl Hand) the Garrards Horse & Hound 0-3 Wins.
