Scone produced the upset of the season downing a rejuvenated Pirates 26-19. In a see-sawing tussle the Brumbies scored late in the first half to lock the scores up at 14-all at half-time. Pirates kicked away again early in the second half but home side scored two unanswered tries to hit the front with 15 minutes to play and hold on for just their second win.
In a round of upsets Inverell leapfrogged Walcha into fourth with 38-29 victory.
Elsewhere Gunnedah pulled away in the second half to beat Barraba 50-15 and Moree outgunned Quirindi 61-24.
