Member for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall awaits COVID test after Sydney outbreak grows

Mr Marshall is awaiting the outcome of his COVID-19 test after he was warned he attended a Sydney restaurant on Monday night, which has since been identified by contact tracers as a possible exposure site.

He was reportedly accompanied by Tamworth-based Nationals MLC Trevor Khan, along with two other Nationals MPs.

Mr Marshall's office confirmed to the Leader that after being alerted to the potential contact, he immediately went into isolation and received a COVID-19 test. He is set to learn the results of the test on Wednesday night.

Mr Marshall has been in Sydney for parliament this week and the budget. On Wednesday morning, NSW Health confirmed 10 cases of coronavirus had been confirmed in the 24 hours to 8pm on Tuesday.

Health authorities also confirmed 13 additional positive cases of the virus had been detected since the Tuesday night cut off.

Those who live or work within the seven Sydney COVID hotspot local government areas will not be allowed to travel beyond metro Sydney as the city moves into tighter restrictions from 4pm today following another 23 cases recorded in the past 24 hours.

The seven LGAs limited to metro Sydney travel are:

Residents in Sydney, Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Shellharbour regions can not have any more than five visitors to a household, including children, from 4pm today until midnight Wednesday when restrictions will be re-assessed.

All customers at hospitality venues must again be seated, while the one person per four square metre rule will also be re-introduced.

Singing and dancing is also banned, with an exception for 20 people on a dance floor at weddings.

Sporting and outdoor events are recommended to reduce capacities to 50 per cent.

Masks are compulsory in all indoor settings, including workplaces, and at outdoor events such as sporting matches.

Gym classes are restricted to 20 and masks must be worn.

The restrictions come as the Sydney cases jump with a further 10 cases of community transmission reported to 8pm last night, and another 13 cases since 8pm last night.

Seven of the 10 cases recorded to 8pm were announced yesterday.

Eight of today's cases are linked to a birthday party in West Hoxton, attended by a previously reported case linked to the Bondi cluster. About 30 people attended this party and they have all been tested and are in isolation.

The ninth case is a close contact of a previously reported case linked to the Bondi cluster.

A total of 10 people who attended the West Hoxton party have now tested positive for COVID-19, including a two-year-old child, who attended Little Zak's childcare in Narellan Vale on June 21.

Four of the overnight cases are currently unlinked. Urgent investigations and contact tracing are underway.

One of the cases took a flight (QF163) from Sydney to Wellington, New Zealand, departing Sydney at 7:05pm Friday, June 18, and arriving in Wellington at 12:12am on Saturday, June 19.

The person then returned on a flight (NZ247) from Wellington, New Zealand to Sydney on Monday, June 21, departing Wellington at 10:13am and arriving in Sydney at 11:33am.

This has also seen Wellington move to level two alert, with restrictions in place for gathering numbers and a renewed emphasis on social distancing. Face masks are also compulsory on all public transport. The measures will remain in place until 11:59pm Sunday.

Queensland and Victoria have also imposed bans on travellers from Sydney including residents from City of Sydney and the Woollahra, Bayside, Canada Bay, Inner West, Randwick and Waverley local government areas.
