Oxley took on Woolooware in Tuesday's round of 16 clash in Tamworth with the visitors moving through to the quarter finals with a 2-1 win.
That score was the exact reverse of the scoreline that saw Oxley make the semi-finals in 2019.
On Tuesday, there wasn't anything between the two teams as Woolooware held onto their half-time lead to go on with it.
Oxley co-captains Jordan Donnelly and Emma James thought luck wasn't on their side.
"It was just the unlucky goals really," Donnelly said of the difference between the two teams.
"I reckon we were pretty evenly matched. They just held their game really well and found feet throughout the whole game."
James added: "Yeah, and they had a lot of pressure in the backline."
The co-captains thanked coach Darren Desmid for all his help and were also "really proud" of their team.
They kept fighting right until the final whistle but were unable to find the back of the net.
"I think [we played] really well. Passing it around, making space and the pressure on the defence was pretty good," James said.
The opens girls knockout competition continues with the quarter finals set to be played on July 23.
The final is slated for August 25.
