About 70g of the drug ice was seized from the car near Gunnedah, when highway patrol officers stopped to help the trio who appeared to have been broken down.
One man has been charged with supplying drugs in relation to the seizure on Saturday night, while checks revealed a second was wanted on arrest warrants.
Peel Highway Patrol Inspector Kelly Wixx told the Leader "police were doing a good deed when they stopped to help", only to discover a lot more than they bargained for.

The Ford Escape stationwagon was stopped on the side of the Kamilaroi Highway, about 15km north of Gunnedah, about 7.50pm on Saturday when passing officers pulled up to help.
"The officers actually thought the car and its three male occupants had broken down so they stopped and were offering some assistance," Inspector Wixx said.
"After speaking with the three males in the car, police had cause to search the vehicle and the occupants and located what we allege to be 70g of methamphetamine on the driver."
The 19-year-old driver was arrested at the scene and taken to Gunnedah Police Station where he was charged with supplying a prohibited drug, and drug possession.
He's been granted bail to front Gunnedah Local Court next month.
The 22-year-old man was charged with the outstanding warrants and was refused bail at weekend bail court. He's set to front court again on Tuesday.
The third man in the car was arrested for questioning but was released without charge. All three men are from Newcastle, but what they were doing in the North West is subject to investigation.
"The drugs will be forensically tested to validate some of the conversations with police on the side of the road," Inspector Wixx said.
"This was a significant seizure of drugs and police were just patrolling and stopped to render assistance because they thought they had broken down.
"So the police were actually there wanting to assist the public and have come across these people, and now have seized the drugs that have significant street value."
