Samual Steven Tapau pleads guilty to drug supply charges in Tamworth court after police raided Warral Road home

Samual Steven Tapau has been on strict bail after he was charged with a string of drug-related offences in May.

Tapau appeared in person at Tamworth Local Court to enter guilty pleas to some of the charges.

The 50-year-old was facing two counts of possessing a prohibited drug; as well as one charge each of supplying a prohibited drug; and dealing with the proceeds of crime.

Court documents show he has pleaded guilty to the elements of the two charges, but there will be further discussions about the offences in court.

Court records also show Tapau pleaded guilty to one count of possessing illicit drugs, but is yet to enter a plea to the second count.

Tapau was arrested after police moved in just before 6pm on May 18 and searched a Warral Road house as part of an ongoing drug supply investigation.

Officers said they found what they claim is cannabis, cash, scales and other drug-related items inside the home during the raid.

Police said the items were seized in the search and forensically examined,

Tapau was taken to Tamworth Police Station later that evening, where he was questioned and charged before spending the night behind bars.

He was granted strict bail in Tamworth Local Court the following day, and magistrate Julie Soars continued his conditions during his latest appearance.

Tapau's bail means he is not allowed to leave Tamworth and has been ordered not to take drugs or drink alcohol, among a number of other bail conditions.

The case will return to court in July.
