Tamworth COVID-19 vaccine rollout: Jody Ekert among first general public adults in 40-49 group to get Pfizer vaccine at Tamworth hospital

The local woman is in her early 40s and is not in a priority group, meaning she was among the first Tamworth residents to get the Pfizer vaccine at the hospital after the rollout scaled up to include all adults aged 40-49.

"It was all pretty smooth," Ms Ekert told the Leader after her appointment.

"I think it is something we all need to do for everyone in the community."

Ms Ekert registered her interest as soon as she could last month, and when she found out appointments for all adults in her age bracket would start on Thursday, she jumped online and booked a slot for that morning.

"It seemed to be quite popular with a lot of people up there," she said.

"It's really easy and it's just like any other vaccine."

The Tamworth hospital clinic started administering the Pfizer doses to priority groups in the 40-49 age bracket last month, but has now opened to the general public.
