Queen's Birthday Honours: Tamworth's Judith Loffel awarded OAM for service to country music

She has been the director and museum curator for quite some time, and this year, has been awarded an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) to recognise her commitment.

Ms Loffel has also been a volunteer coordinator and archivist since 1997.

She said she was "very honoured and very humbled" that she was nominated and chosen to receive the award.

The local lady has seen many changes as part of the museum's band of volunteers over the years.

One major change was the move from the old Mechanics' Institute in Brisbane Street, to the current spot next to Hungry Jacks on Peel Street.

Ms Loffel joins around a dozen residents from the New England and north west to be honoured with an award in 2021.

And it's not the first award she's received for her services, either.

In 2018 she was a nominee for the Senior Volunteer of the Year award as part of National Volunteer Week, and also received a Tamworth Award in 2016.
