Tamworth COVID-19 vaccine rollout: Pfizer bookings now open at Tamworth hospital for all adults aged between 40 and 49

The hospital clinic started administering the Pfizer doses to priority groups in that age bracket - like people with certain jobs or with illneses - last month, but has now opened up bookings to the general public.

Any local aged between 40 and 49 was previously able to register interest to get the vaccine, but can now access the website to book a time slot to get the shot.

Hunter New England Health (HNEH) is the authority running the vaccination clinic at Tamworth hospital, and confirmed the changes on Wednesday.

A spokeswoman from HNEH said the organisation could not comment on how many doses the service was able to deliver on a daily basis, or what the schedule for appointments looked like at this stage.

It is understood that those locals who had already registered interest were expected to receive an email update from NSW Health.

The federal government's eligibility checker indicates the Tamworth hospital is vaccinating people between the hours of 9am and 3:30pm on every week day, except Wednesday.

To book an appointment, visit the eligibility checker at https://covid-vaccine.healthdirect.gov.au/. The only criteria is to be aged between 40 and 49, and people from outside the city are welcome to travel to Tamworth to get the jab. The clinic's contact number is listed as 1800 571 155.

The hospital is also offering the AstraZeneca shot to anyone aged over 50.
