Liston shooting: Joshua James Berryman admits to firing gun in Stanthorpe Street shooting, near Tenterfield

Joshua James Berryman appeared via video link in Armidale Local Court this week where he pleaded guilty to all but one of his charges.

The charges stem from a daylight confrontation in Stanthorpe Street in Liston, near Tenterfield, about 11am on April 12.

Police were called after reports shots had been fired in the street.

It's been the police case that two residents in the street were arguing when one of the men produced a firearm and fired two shots.

In court, the 41-year-old admitted to firing a firearm in a manner likely to injure persons or property, and three counts of a possessing an unregistered firearm.

Magistrate Roger Prowse ordered the weapons to be forfeited to the Crown, and adjourned the case for sentencing in July.

Berryman made no bid for bail and it was formally refused. A charge of using or possessing a defaced firearm was withdrawn in court, and dismissed.

No one was injured in the confrontation and Berryman fled the scene before police were alerted.

Officers examined the crime scene and Berryman was arrested shortly after and taken to Tenterfield Police Station where he was questioned and charged. He's been behind bars since.

The firearms were seized during the police investigation.
