Tamworth Monopoly board: council proposes Chaffey Dam, Calala Cottage and more on exclusive board

Players can own a piece of real estate on the Tamworth Monopoly board, as the council reveals its proposed design.

So far, the feedback from the public is that the town is "more than just country music", Kootingal didn't get a look-in and that the player pieces should be made with a local spin.

The public has suggested the council could be more specific about the smaller towns, including the Barraba silo art and Nundle's Woolen Mill.

Player pieces like the thimble could be swapped out for a miniature Hewitt telescope, a BMX bike or a golden guitar.

Submissions close this week and a Tamworth Regional Council (TRC) spokesman said the decision was made to purchase the entire board, rather than allow businesses to buy in.

"The feedback will be considered and assessed by the council and any necessary alterations to the board will be made," he said.

"After the initial announcement of the Tamworth Monopoly board game there was interest from a range of businesses across all different sectors to be included, it is important that the board is reflective of the region and showcases our community's historical and natural assets.

"Other Monopoly boards have allowed businesses to buy into the board for a fee, after initial feedback from the community it was decided by Council to purchase the entire board to ensure it properly reflected the region."

It's hoped the board will be ready for sale before Christmas to be sold at the Visitor Information Centre, a pop-up stall at Tamworth Country Music Festival and online.

The council will take community feedback into account for the final board design, to make a submission visit the TRC website.
