GUNNEDAH firefighters have received an early wake-up call on Tuesday morning to extinguish a housefire.

At about 4.15am Gunnedah Fire and Rescue and RFS crews were called to Jaeger Avenue with reports a fire had started on the outside of the home.
The blaze was enveloping a wall and had entered the home's roof space.

Fast-acting firefighters quickly got to work and put out the fire before it took over the entirety of the home.
Two residents were able to evacuate thanks to working smoke alarms.
NSW Police, NSW Ambulance, and Essential Energy crews were on scene providing support.
Police are now investigating the cause of the blaze.
