Gunnedah Jockey Club secretary manager, Lyn Tongue said the May 30 meeting should attract a large crowd from all walks of life, simply because they cater to everyone's needs, while the racing is always top notch.
"It's a showcase race meeting, with all races with increased prizemoney of $30,000, expect for the cup, which is worth $40,000," Tongue said.
"We have eight races, but depending on nominations, we could split a race because there is that many horses going around.
"Racing NSW have been very generous with the prizemoney and allowing us to add races, which is fantastic."
While the action on track will be fast and furious, families and friends can enjoy a good day off the track.
"We have a band playing, fashions on the field and all of that," Tongue said.
"We don't have the grand facilities that other clubs have, but we are a club that is very steeped in history.
"We have a lot of families and farmers who come out to enjoy the day, it's almost a picnic-like day. It's just a great atmosphere for families.
"It's a good old fashion country race meeting."
Fashions will no doubt be as competitive as the racing, with the club offering cash prizes to winners.
"It's fairly competitive, there are a few local ladies that love entering and there are a few girls and gentlemen that do the circuit," Tongue said.
"We've got cash prizes and it's always very popular."
As always, there will be bookies, TAB, bar and food facilities, while tickets are still available for the club's Cup Day marquee.
"We have full TAB facilities and all the normal things. We also have a marquee with a hot buffet luncheon and tickets are still available for that," Tongue said.
While the racing will kick off on the Sunday, plenty of punters and racing fans will be on hand on Saturday night for the Gunnedah Cup Calcutta at the Railway Hotel.
