The RU Volunteering Expo kicked off on Thursday afternoon, giving residents in the Tamworth region the chance to discover new volunteer opportunities at their doorstep.

RU Volunteering connects volunteer organisations with potential volunteers looking for volunteer roles and vice versa.
Volunteer services coordinator Eleze Drew said it was exciting to put the expo on.
"2020 was a difficult year with Covid-19 restricting many of our volunteers and volunteer organisations," she said.
"We are hopeful that this expo will re-ignite volunteering in the community and connect new volunteers with volunteer opportunities."
The Tamworth region has volunteer opportunities on offer across many sectors of the community including; sporting organisations, school groups, service organisations, community groups, aged care services, health and wellbeing services, parks, gardens and outdoor services and arts and culture services.
There is no restriction or limit on who can volunteer, young and old, new and existing residents with a range of experiences are all encouraged to attend the Expo to discover volunteer opportunities.

The expo hosted a variety of volunteer organisations including the Tamworth Historical Society, the Tamworth Pastoral and Agricultural Association, One of a Kind Tamworth, the Tamworth Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service and many more.
