A CHILD has been rushed to hospital after being hit by a car in Tamworth this afternoon.

The young boy was injured in the accident on William Street in West Tamworth about 3.30pm.
A spokesperson for Ambulance NSW said a number of crews were deployed to the scene, near Woolworths and West Tamworth Public School, after reports a pedestrian had been struck by a car.
Paramedics arrived on scene to find a young boy who had suffered a head laceration, the spokesperson said.

He was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to Tamworth hospital.
He was reported to be in a stable condition.
No one else was injured in the accident. Police were also alerted.
The incident is under investigation.
